Monitoring the general metrics of business process execution
Overview
It is necessary to provide the capabilities for the monitoring of general metrics of business process execution to simplify diagnostics and system behaviour analysis.
Principles and provisions

To decrease service workload in the registry operational zone, the metrics must be gathered via a separate Camunda (business-process-administration-portal) administrative zone instance
-
The registration of changes in the metrics of business process execution is optional, and must be configured on the service configuration level (business-process-administration-portal)
-
Metrics gathering interval is configured in the Prometheus service process level
-
The automatic notifications service is out of the scope of this document

There are two basic approaches to metrics gathering, depending on the requirements for data actualization intervals and production workload:

Registering metrics with functions for value actualization. Metrics value update is performed on request execution via the
'/actuator/prometheus'service route according to the interval, configured on the Prometheus level -
Metrics registration and value actualization according to a schedule configured via Spring Task Scheduling and
@Scheduled(fixedRate = <?>)to distribute workload

On this stage it is recommended to follow the approach with metrics update interval configuring on Prometheus level. If required, the use of granular configuring of metrics update schedule approach may be discussed. |
